Ceiling Falling

Do you ever just feel overwhelmed?  I know many people felt overwhelmed during the pandemic, and for many reasons I was with the majority of the country for that.  What didn’t help was when my ceiling was literally falling. Let me elaborate.

My kids were sitting at the table during the height of the pandemic doing virtual school. This was November 2020, right after I had put up all our Christmas decorations.  My son turned to me and said “mom, that’s a big crack in the ceiling”.

Yep, he was right…that’s a big crack.  I yelled out to my husband in his office and then immediately called my contractor, who I should just have on retainer at this point, but I digress.  While I’m on the phone with him…the whole ceiling came falling down!

No-one was hurt.  The dogs included…thank God everyone was out of the way but what a mess.  I mean a complete disaster.  We tried to save some of it, but that did not work. It all ended up coming down.

There was so much insulation up there and it got over what felt like everything in the house. Falling ceilings are a massive cleanup. Inside and out.

Of course, insurance didn’t cover this for some reason or another.  We were told the drywall wasn’t hung correctly when it was installed.  So, after lots of dollars, time and cleanup, we had a new ceiling.

Remember our bedroom renovation? Well, I wanted them to check our bedroom ceiling too, and sure enough it was sagging also, so we got that rehung. Luckily before it fell.

So, why after all that, have we been living with this for almost a year! The floors are still a disaster.  I ended up taking out the little half walls. It was something I wanted to do for a while and the ceiling falling sort of messed them up, so I just ripped them out. And I can’t redo the trim until the floors get done, so this is what we have been living with going on almost a year now.

It’s driving me nuts! But, on the upside, I think we’ve finally got a plan for the floors going forward. We’ve made a large deposit and we will get all new floors hopefully very soon!  It’s been a whole thing that I won’t get into, but I’ll have more on this all later.

For now, follow me on Instagram to get updates on Bonnie’s room, which is almost done…I’m just waiting for the floors ;). As long as we don’t get anymore falling ceilings.

Thanks for stopping by!
