Descendants Costumes were the theme for Halloween this year! Shop this post to find out how we pulled them together.
We’ve gotten through another Halloween, which happens to be my second favorite holiday. I was especially excited this year because both my kiddos wanted descendants costumes which means – family costumes! We haven’t had the kids agree on something since they were three and one and we went as the Flintstones.

If you haven’t heard of The Descendants, you can catch it on the Disney channel. It’s a fun family friendly move with some great musical numbers. The Descendants are the children and grandchildren of all the Disney’s heroes and villains. The four main characters are villains kids, and also our Halloween costumes. We originally started Mal (Bonnie) with a purple wig, which was super cute.
However, I couldn’t get the wig to stay on. I have no idea what I’m doing. So, we went all out and colored her hair with punky color and it looks adorable! It will probably last a couple of weeks but it’s so fitting of her personality I don’t even care.
For Carlos, I used Halloween Hair spray from Wal-Mart and eyeliner for the freckles.
Since they are reading the novels now, they got to use these costumes to wear to school on Halloween. They have to go as book characters, so it worked!
We had a blast!
We had our annual Halloween party, where I made mummy dogs, Halloween chex mix and hot chocolate in the crock pot. I grabbed some disposable to-go coffee cups and the kids loaded up in the back of my truck and we had a blast getting tons of candy.
Besides Christmas, Halloween is my favorite holiday. We always have so much fun. If you want more DIY Halloween costume inspiration, check out my no-sew Anna from Frozen costume from a few years ago!
I’ve broken down how and where we got all the pieces to our Descendants costumes below.
Next week I’m starting on the den and I’m so excited to get this awful space remodeled. Stay tuned for that!
Pin for later!
