Favorite Gifts from Christmas 2017 – What we LOVED!
Our favorite gifts from Christmas 2017 – what was worth the money and we loved!
Hello! I hope you all had a great holiday season! We had a wonderful, relaxing holiday at home this year. It was just the four of us, and the dogs of course. I know that sometimes we spend money on stuff that we don’t actually love, so I wanted to share our favorite gifts from Christmas 2017.
The biggest hit this year was the newest video game system…the Nintendo Switch. My 8 year old loves it so much, we are going to have to set restrictions when we get back to school. I actually love it too. He only got two games – MarioKart and Mario Odyssey. I thought it would be all Mariokart, but him and I both are obssesed with Odyessey. I love it because there are some old school, original Mario sections. My sons was like “this is so weird and old”…I was like “hang on son, I got this…”. It’s perfect for his age and mine alike. This is the biggest hit.
I love the switch because you can easily move it from TV to TV and it also functions as a Gameboy. So, my son can take it on trips with him. I have to admit, I’ve been sneaking it into bed after he goes to sleep at night and playing under the covers like I’m 12.
I was hesitant to get a gaming system. The last one we have is a super old xBox 360 and it’s fun but we were starting to have trouble with the constants updates. We use the xBox to watch Netflix and Amazon in the kids den and the Nintendo Switch can also play apps on the TV…or on the handheld. Score!
Another one of the kids favorites were these bed tents. I have seen one for twin size bed everywhere, but they were harder to find for queen and full sized beds. My son saw this and had to get it for his sister.
Around here, the kiddos open their gifts from each other on Christmas eve. My daughter opened her tent, we set it up and they both slept in there while waiting for Santa. My son was so envious, that he actually bought one for himself with his Christmas money. So fun! They’ve also been super handy since I broke the heater (not really) working on the den and so it’s been around 50 in there rooms at night. These tents are 10 degrees warmer inside and so cozy. Even the dogs sleep in there! I mean, look at that smile!
They also got this swing, which my daughter LOVES. She was out there swinging when it was about 15 degrees out. She can not get enough! I built a swing a few years ago, after we first moved in and while she plays on that sometimes, nothing like this new swing.
Speaking of swings, my mother in law sent this slackline and it is also a hit! I put it up in a snap and the kiddos have been on it a ton.
The hubby got some new cold weather running gear which he loves and this little fake fireplace to go in his office. It provides some extra heat and is nice to look at!
My son also got some compression pants, which are apparently so cool.
I got a new bluetooth speaker. The sound is great and it works with our Alexa, but the power input broke in two days. We are sending it back, hopefully it was just a weird glitch, but I’ll let you know. I hope it works, we’ve had a hard time finding a good quality indoor/outdoor speaker.
My daughter’s favorite gifts was her Descendants dolls. Which she promptly threw up all over and I got to hand wash doll hair all day :).
This was a surprise…my son got one of these little NFL table football tickers from a prize box at school and he loved it so much. My daughter accidentally broke it, so she ordered him a full set to make up for it. They have had about as much fun with these things as anything! Who knew?
And in their stockings they got some more punky color hair dye. They love it! After we used it for our daughters Halloween costume, they both wanted to try it and Santa came through for them!
Well, that’s about it. What did you guys get this year that you loved? I’d love to know!
See you next week!

Pin for later!
Love the tent!! I got my granddaughter who is 4 one…it was way smaller then I anticipated, but every night she had to sleep on the floor with her upper half in the tent! I’ll have to see if they have a tent for bunk beds. Looks like you had a great Christmas, sans the vomit!!
We did, haha. They do love the tents, I hope they hold up! I hope you also had a wonderful Christmas!
Wow the tent looks beautiful! My babies will love them.
Thanks Alicia, mine sure do!
What a joyous Christmas. The tents are brilliant.
Thanks Erika, the kiddos love them!
