Haven Conference Recap & Why It’s Been So Quiet
Haven Conference is one of my very favorite parts of blogging and I am sharing all the nitty gritty details from Atlanta.
Haven Conference is the best. You know when you go somewhere and people just get you? I feel like we are living on an old episode of Cheers whenever we are at Haven – except the “everybody knows my name” part. Maybe one day everyone will know my name when I’m big and famous, but now I just love love love seeing my friends. The people I converse with a talk online with on a daily basis. And speaking of being big and famous, I not only got to see and meet some rock star woodworkers, I got to hobnob with Clint Harp! Okay, hobnob’s a bit strong but I did get to listen to him talk and meet him for a second.
I also got to attend a dinner hosted by The Home Depot and Kwikset and got to meet another woodworker who is an absolute idol of mine – Sawdust Girl! If you don’t know about her, you are missing out. She is AMAZING. And ridiculously hilarious. I mean, she sat beside me at dinner and I was in stitches. All the people there were so nice, even though I felt like I was way out of my league, it was an awesome event to be a part of.
But the best part…
With all the excitement of the celebrity spotting, my absolute, hands down, favorite thing about Haven Conference is my friends. I not only got to see my favorites from last year, but met some amazing new friends as well. These girls are so much fun. I could go on and on.
My favorite of them all is my old friend Kim (Knock it Off Kim) from when we lived in Virginia. She is one of my very favorite people ever. The hardest parts of leaving Virginia for Oklahoma was leaving my friends, including Kim who used to live just about a mile from me. So, of course when we first went to Haven last year, we immediately decided to room together. She WILL be my roommate every year, weather she likes it or not. I could tell stories of 2am room service and yelling in your sleep, but I won’t bore you with those details :).
Shout out to our amazing sponsors!
Of course, I have to give a shout out to all the amazing vendors and sponsors. Without these guys, there would be no Haven Conference. The Home Depot is our biggest supporter, but RYOBI comes in strong every year with awesome new tool demos, building classes and DIYs galore! I even won a new drill press, woo-hoo!!!
Another fantastic trip! I’m already counting down the days when we will be headed to a new location in 2018 – Charleston, SC! Woot!
For now, I know I’ve been quiet. I had some technical issues on the site and that took FOREVER for me to work out. Plus, we have been traveling most of the summer and I debated for a while on wether or not to stress about getting posts out or enjoying time with my kiddos. As you can probably guess, as much I love writing, the kids are only young once :).
We will be home in a couple of weeks and I have big things planned for the fall. Like I said, we are smack dab in the middle of the kitchen renovation. I’ll be keeping you guys up to date on the progress there, but we are also going to rip the carpet up in the den (YAY, YAAAYYYYY, YAYYYYYYYYY!!!! ). It is SO NASTY ! And redo the hallway (I think) as part of the one room challenge. I’ve been dreaming of a gorgeous hallway….
Okay, see ya soon! Have a great rest of your summer!

I love hanging out with you at Haven every year, too… though this year I don’t think we spent nearly enough time together! Congrats on winning the drill press – I can’t wait to see what you make with it!
I know, I was so sad I didn’t see you more! We have to do a hangout soon!!
I’m glad that you had fun and I had a blast too! it was so inspirational and exciting!
I totally agree! So great to meet you, can’t wait until Charleston~
Wahhhhh.. you made me cry! Love you best of all, dude. #BRF – Best roomies forever!
Haha, you know it!
Even though I don’t blog I want to attend to meet my favorite bloggers, Sarah from ThriftyDecorChick , my 1st blog ever, followed her for 9 yrs now! Plus Katie Bower! I found her when Will was a baby. I feel like she could be my kid! She is a tad too old but it is ok, adore her. So many others just walk around and stare!
It’s so fun! I took a class with Katie Bower, she’s so sweet :). I haven’t met Sarah but I love Thrifty Decor Chick!
