Home Office Makeover -One Room Challenge Week 3
Hi and welcome back! Β Do you ever feel like, I am going to get XY AND Z done this week. Β Then you try and you work, but one thing after another happens and then you realize you didn’t get X, Y OR Z done? Β Well, that’s pretty much how it’s going with my home office makeover. Β But, I’m getting a few things done and it’s staring to move along.Β

One of the things that held me up was the ridiculous amount of rain we have had. Β Plus, with the pool remodel, they have had to drain out all the rain water, so our yard looks like this.
I have to wear my rain boots out there, otherwise my feet get soaked!
Also, since we ripped the deck out, you can see more about that HERE, the step going up to the pool house had to be ripped out, so getting in and out of the office is fun. Β Why am I doing this all at the same time? Β I had a reason-can’t think of it now.
But, even with al that I did get some stuff done. Β First, I picked paint colors, and after being inspired by my friends, I decided navy would be a good choice for a home office. Here is a post I wrote about the colors that inspired me. Β These are some gorgeous rooms from my friends.
I decided on Naval by Sherwin Williams. I only decided on that because two of the bloggers in that post used it and I figured if two people of out six used it and like it, it would work! Β Plus, I had a lot of white trim leftover, so when I put them together they looked like a match. I bought it but haven’t gotten on the prep work to start painting done yet. Β I love, love, love when you roll on the first coat of paint, but the prep work, especially in a room like this can be daunting.
I did start some paint work though – the cabinets are painted!
And if you are wondering if that is concrete on the countertop, backsplash and wall, you are right! Β Haha, I’ll have more on that ridiculous idea soon, but it does give the room a nice, stone wall that cost next to nothing. I’ll have the navy and white everywhere else.
I also started a bit on scrubbing the walls, since this is basically an outdoor space that has been abandoned, it has been quite a bit more cleanup than I suspected :(. Β Lots of wasps nests and June bugs everywhere. Β Just today, I also started working on the popcorn ceiling removable.
I also did some shopping. Β I bought some new lights at Lowes and got these pulls off Amazon is two different sizes.
I also (maybe) picked out the floor tile and borrow a wet saw and some other supplies from some a friend so we can attempt the floor ourselves. Β We will see how it goes ;).
So, that’s it for this week on our home office makeover. Β Not a lot of fun stuff to look at, mainly just a bunch of cleaning. Β Hopefully more next week.
Thanks so much for stopping by!
April
It’s coming along! Love the countertops!
Thanks Bre!
Wow, that is a lot of mud. Love, love, love the idea of a concrete backsplash…it’s such a masculine touch! Can’t wait to hear more about it!
Thanks Leslie!
I’m so sorry your yard looks like that. Summer will come and you will be so happy when your pool and office are done! You are making great progress, keep up the hard work.
Melissa
Thanks Melissa, I just keep telling myself it’ll be worth it π

April, it’s coming along! I can’t believe the mud. OMG. You not only have the challenge, but also the weather. π
It’s ridic! But, kind of weirdly fun too :).
Yay for navy! Can’t wait to see how it looks once you’re done painting!
Thanks Sarah, me either!!
I really like navy (although don’t have any in our house π ) – would love to find out more about your “ridiculous idea” for the concrete, it seems like it works to me! Good luck with that ceiling
It actually came out okay! But, I am ready to move on to the next thing :). Thanks Nicole!
Ohmigosh, what a mess you have outside! Yep, that would make it tough to move about the house. Hope it dries up a little for you. That navy you’ve chosen is amazing! Love navy everything. Can’t wait to see it all done!
Thanks Jen, me either π
OMG YOUR YARD! What a mess! I bet it will be great when it is done though! As for your office, your ideas are always so unique and creative and I can’t wait to see the progress!
Thanks Amanda! Right now, I’m just dying for the yard to be done :).
I’d never een think of navy color for walls, but it’s looking GOOD !!
Wow – I can’t wait to see the whole room completely remodel
Thanks Winnie!
My yard and yours look about the same. We haven’t had our final grade from building the house so its a mess. Can’t wait to see your office progress next week.
It’s a nightmare, huh??
SO much to do!!! I feel ya girl! Can’t wait to see what you get up to this week! My week was sloooow, lol.
Oh gosh me too! More rain, rain rain! It’s all so fun though!
Such a bummer that you had so much rain. The paint color you picked out is going to look great.
Thanks Katy! I’m loving it so far π
April, love the plans to go with navy and white. I know all the cleaning isn’t pretty for a blog post, but it’s necessary to get to the pretty right? This space will be GREAT when you’re done – just keep reminding yourself of that. Headed over to see this week’s post now to see how much further you’ve come along.
Thanks Carrie! The cleaning is annoying, but since this space is outside, it was so messy that I actually felt better after I cleaned it out. Can’t wait to get the flooring in!
