Kitchen Update – Phase One is Done!
Our Kitchen Update is coming along and this week I’m sharing the completion of phase one.
You may remember my first post about the kitchen –ย before our kitchen update started, this space looked like this…

Brown, Dirty and Tiny. ย I talked about this in my last kitchen update, but we are splitting this project into 3 phases. ย So, we started with the left wall. ย We decided to go ahead and tear down the wall leading into the dining room as well. ย After many months of work, we have…
After cutting a hole in the huge brick wall to allow a passthrough and taking down that wall, we have a much more open and usable space.
We also took out that ridiculous drop down ceiling and “raised the roof”. ย Literally.
After painting the cabinets black (details on that coming soon), adding the subway tile backsplash and sanding and painting the ceiling, including removing popcorn from half of it, the final step was installing the beautiful copper pot rack.
And the very last piece was that gorgeous rug my friend Kim of Knock it Off Kim picked out for me. ย It’s perfect.
Now we are going to take a little break, then it’s on to side two, which still sort of looks like this, minus the wall with the interior doors and stove. ย And of course, that drop down ceiling is no more! ย Man, I hated that thing. ย The cabinet over the old fridge wouldn’t even open all the way without hitting that hideous box light.
So, that’s it for now. ย I’ll have more details on some of the projects coming soon!

Yes! Now, if I just had the money ๐
WOW! This looks great! Such a huge difference. Raising the roof was the right call for sure. Love the cabinet color and hardware too. PS – Kim made a beautiful rug choice ๐
Thank you ladies! Can’t wait until my break is over and we can start on phase 2!
Oh April, your new kitchen looks Ah-mazing! I love it. The cabinets and the appliances look great. Nice work and I bet you guys are all enjoying this makeover!
Thanks Tee! We are loving it, but sad we have to break for a bit. Kitchens are expensive!
Kitchen can give new looks to your home. If your kitchen condition is not good then it is better that you can update this. For this first you should make a plan for this, then decide the budget. Then select which cabinet design you want to install. Then decide the kitchen counter-tops. Also select the best appliances for the kitchen. It is better if you take the help of a professional contractor. You really did a great job.
Thanks!
