Master Bathroom Remodel
We have finally finished our master bathroom remodel and we are loving the new space. Honestly it was so gross and bad and we lived with it for over 9 years while we worked on other projects, leaving our comfort for last. To be honest, we contracted this project out. Life has been chaotic and I just didn’t have to time to do it myself. And, we had to move out of our bedroom so I also wanted it done quicker than I could’ve done it myself. So this is mostly just a before and after post.

Isn’t she lovely? That’s the before in case you couldn’t tell. The most asked question we had was “is that tub in the ground”? Yes. Yes, it was. And if you think that’s bad, check out the shower/toilet room.

Honestly, looking at it now I can’t believe I convinced Matt to ever buy this house. Gross. I also can’t believe we lived with that for nine years. But, I digress. The one thing about that area we did like was that it was kind of nice having the shower and toilet secluded, together and away from the rest of the space.
The way it was laid out before, Matt’s vanity was next to my closet and my vanity was next to his. I honestly can’t remember why we did that, but I knew when we redid it that would switch. Here’s a pic of his vanity before.

I didn’t even care enough about it to replace the light bulbs. While we didn’t do my closet in this makeover (that’s a whole separate project), we did decide to upgrade Matt’s a little and give it a little facelift.

I wish I had a better “before” but that’s all I took. Now, onto the fun part. We built the wall where Matt’s vanity was out to make room for a bigger shower, and did an “L” shaped double vanity.

I really love my little DIY home, mainly because when I redo something, I can create whatever to fit my needs and wants. We didn’t really need a tub. We especially didn’t need a tiny, in-ground, hard to get in and out of tub. Especially since we put a hot tub right outside our bedroom door. So, we decided on a bigger shower and no tub. We wanted to leave the plumbing drains as close to the original places as possible to save some money. So, we kept the shower and toilet drains in the same place, but moved the wall out.

Another thing I was really looking for was a “hot” drawer for hot styling items. Before, they were always hanging down and in the way. This little drawer has worked great, mainly because I can put my tools away as soon as I’m done and done have to wait for them to cool down.

Before, when you came out of the shower, you saw this…

That is where Matt kept his socks and underwear. In those drawers OUTSIDE his closet. It made no sense.
Now,

And you can walk straight across into Matt’s new and improved closet with a proper set of drawers!

Basically, in here I just painted the whole thing, inserted drawers, new floors and new light fixture.
Here are a few progress photos…
That’s it for our master bathroom remodel!
