Backyard Update – Part 3 & a Garden Hop!

Hello!  My friend Tara over at Lehman Lane recently suggested a garden hop – a roundup of us bloggers and our backyards – and it dawned on me that I have shared an update on the backyard since last summer!  So, I jumped on board.  Now, all my super talented blogger friends are sure to share with you all their beautiful, well-maintained gardens and yards.  All I can say about us is…we are working on it.  Haha, it’s getting better.  Slowly, slowly, slowly, but it is getting better. So, lets take a look around.

So, before we get started you have to go take a look at where we started (here)…then this whole post will be much more impressive.  Just an idea of what it did look like…

Nice, huh?? If you want to see my very first blog post ever, which is kind of embarrassing, it’ll walk you all around the outside of the house, go check it out here.

So, here we are – after two years and a lot of headaches and a lot of fun – here is where we are now. Looking a wee bit better after we ripped out the wood deck, put in a new liner and poured much safer concrete around the pool.

You may remember when I redid my husbands office, which is actually the pool house.

He is loving his new home office and works here all the time.  His view is perfect for watching the kids take a dip.

Behind the back fence is “the field”.  I love this tree and I can sit inside in the morning with my coffee and watch the sun come up behind the field.  I have to say the Oklahoma sky is one of my most favorite things ever.

My husband and son have turned part of the field into a baseball field, which I love.  It’s so great to sit and watch the neighborhood boys play ball and laugh and run.  Sometimes the dog gets in on the fun too.

The view from the gate of the house.  We removed some of raised vegetable gardens, we just could not keep up with the work.  We just can’t keep stuff alive.  I know a lot of people were upset about this, but we just wanted a nice, flat, grassy yard.  So, we are still working on it but like I said before, we are getting there.

But, even though we have not luck keeping stuff alive, we do have a couple of beautiful flower beds pop up around the yard.

On the right side is what we like to call the “kid wing” to make ourselves sound fancy. They have their own little patio and their trampoline is just to the right of this shot.

And all the way on the other side we have the kitchen patio.  I’m dreaming of the day that we have a covered outdoor kitchen in this space.

That’s about it for the backyard.  If you are new here and missed my front courtyard makeover, go check it out here.

Now, for the rest of the front yard we have no idea what to do.  We’ll figure something out. Hopefully.
