Hi and welcome back! We have another fun, easy and quick 10-min DIY for you and this month we are all about upcycling. That was really the only requirement this month – we had to upcycle an old item in 10 min or less. I used a metal ring that I pulled off an old wine barrel to make a quick and easy little succulent plant stand. We had succulents sitting all over and I love them so much. They are so cute and they are the one type of plant I USUALLY won’t kill. So, I made a quick and easy little garden stand for them and was able to get a fun use out of the ring as well!
So, do you guys remember my wine barrel Christmas tree? It one of my most popular posts ever. I’ve had it around for two years now. While I used all the wood slats, I didn’t use the metal rings that held the barrel together.
I knew something would hit me at some point. And this was the month it did! For one of them at least. I found this wooden disc at the hardware store.
To my luck, it fit perfect inside the metal ring! I also had one furniture foot leftover from the display stand I recently made, so I decided to use it on the bottom. So, really it’s a double upcycle. I just found the center, drilled the furniture foot connector onto the plate and then screwed in the foot. Easy peasy!
I also added a layer of Minwax Polycrylic in classic Oak to help protect it. Then I just slipped the ring on and that was pretty much it! Super quick and super easy!
Cant’ decide where to put it. I may have to make another one!
Can you tell I got a new camera I’ve been playing with?
Aren’t they adorable?
